Key takeaways
- Every pet has a hidden normal weight. What counts is how many times heavier yours is, not the kg on its own.
- Income grows with weight to the power 37/60: twice the weight earns about 1.5x, ten times about 4.1x.
- Past 125 times the normal weight growth slows down, but heavier still always earns more.
- A Rainbow colour (x3.5) is worth the same as the pet being about 7.6 times its normal weight. Both stack.
- Bigger eggs hold heavier pets but slow you down while you carry them.
What the kg on your pet card means
Every pet you hatch rolls a weight, shown in kg on its card. It is rolled separately from the colour, which is why you can hatch a plain pet that is huge or a Golden one that is tiny. Bigger eggs in the nest hold heavier pets.
The kg on its own tells you little, because every kind of pet has its own hidden normal weight. A normal Kitsune weighs 260 kg, while a normal Lava Frog weighs 4 kg. So a 30 kg Lava Frog is a giant, and a 300 kg Kitsune is barely above normal.
The formula
Income is the pet’s base income, times its colour, times a size bonus that comes from its weight:
- Up to 125 times the normal weight: size bonus = (your weight / normal weight) to the power of 37/60.
- Above 125 times: size bonus = (your weight / normal weight) to the power of 2/5, times 125 to the power of 13/60.
The second part joins the first exactly at 125x, so there is no jump; growth just slows down. In plain numbers:
| Weight vs normal | Size bonus |
|---|---|
| 2x | about 1.5x |
| 10x | about 4.1x |
| 50x | about 11.2x |
| 100x | about 17.1x |
| 125x | about 19.7x |
| 200x | about 23.7x |
| 1,000x | about 45.1x |
Try it on a real pet
Type any weight for a Kitsune below and see what it earns before colour. It uses the same formula as the table.
Weight or colour: which is worth more?
Colours multiply income by a fixed amount: Silver x1.2, Golden x2.5, Rainbow x3.5, and event colours like Parasite x3 and Fractured x2.75. You can turn each one into the weight it is worth:
- Golden (x2.5) is worth the same as about 4.4 times the normal weight.
- Rainbow (x3.5) is worth the same as about 7.6 times the normal weight.
Rainbow is a 1 in 100 roll, while pets several times their normal weight are far more common. That is why weight usually adds more to a base than colour does. Because the two multiply, a heavy Rainbow pet is the best thing you can own.
Heavy eggs slow you down
The heavier the egg, the slower you run while carrying it. In far biomes the guardian is fast, so a big egg can get you caught. Train a bit more Speed than the biome needs before you go for the heaviest eggs.
What to do with this
- Check the kg on every pet you hatch and compare it with that pet’s normal weight.
- When your pen is full, swap out the pets with the lowest income after size and colour, not the lowest rarity.
- Before you use a 10% mutation item, put it on your heaviest pet: the colour multiplies whatever the weight already gives.
Questions
What is a good weight in Steal An Egg?
Anything above the pet's own normal weight is a bonus. Compare the kg with that pet's normal weight: 10 times normal earns about 4.1x, 100 times about 17x.
Why does my heavy pet earn less than a lighter one?
Because every pet has a different normal weight. A 500 kg pet whose normal weight is 13,000 kg is actually small, while a 30 kg pet whose normal weight is 4 kg is big.
Does weight or colour matter more?
Usually weight, because big weight rolls are more common than rare colours. Rainbow (x3.5) equals about 7.6 times the normal weight, Golden (x2.5) about 4.4 times. They multiply, so the best pets have both.
Is there a limit to how heavy a pet can be?
We do not know of a hard cap. Past 125 times the normal weight the income keeps growing, just more slowly: about 23x at 200 times and 45x at 1,000 times.
