What is Empyrean in Blox Fruits?
Empyrean is the Mythical mutation of
Kitsune: the same Beast fruit with red flames, nine tails instead of five and a reworked moveset. Its M1 combo, its Z move and the held version of its transformed C are different from normal Kitsune, and in most fights it performs a little better.
Untransformed, Z fires a beam at your cursor that you can hold for one of the biggest single hits in the game. At 3 tails the first three M1s reach much further, working like Dragon's pushing M1s, while the fourth trades damage for a wide grab that pulls nearby enemies together.
That damage made it the go-to fruit for bounty and honor hunting until the August 2026 balance patch took some of its PvP pressure away. It is still rated S tier and, because almost every move hits an area, one of the best fruits for grinding, bosses and raids in all three seas. The catch is mastery: it has its own track, separate from Kitsune, and low-level players will find the unlocks slow.

Empyrean moves and mastery
Red flame slashes that fly forward; the 4th hit swirls and pulls enemies together for less damage. At 3 tails the slashes burn for 4 to 5 seconds.
Breaks Instinct: NoTap for a short, weak fire beam. Hold to charge a ring of red runes, then fire a huge beam and explosion that each deal full damage. Aims slowly. The held version lost 30% damage in August 2026.
Breaks Instinct: Held onlyZig-zags between hits before striking the target, stunning for about 0.65 seconds and knocking them to the ground or into the air. Since August 2026 it locks you into the animation on hit.
Breaks Instinct: NoCharges a ball of red flame and throws it on release for a big explosion that leaves burning ground. A direct hit does a bit more. It got 0.3 seconds more end lag in August 2026.
Breaks Instinct: YesTurns you into the full fox. You ignore basic damage for about a second while transforming, which also makes it a combo breaker.
Breaks Instinct: YesDashes forward and, on contact, slashes the target with claws several times. Good for extending M1 combos.
Breaks Instinct: If grabbedLike the 3-tail combo, with a bigger hitbox, more damage and a burn on every hit.
Breaks Instinct: NoDashes forward with three fireballs. On a hit you spin behind the target and blast them; on a miss you spray fireballs all around you.
Breaks Instinct: ExplosionZig-zag dash that grabs, carries the target up and slams them down with rising flames and tails. Works instantly in the air.
Breaks Instinct: Slam onlyTap for a long-range fireball with lasting flames. Hold to dash in and fire a point-blank blast in a cutscene; it uses 75% of the tail meter.
Breaks Instinct: If landedReturns you to human form instantly so you can use swords, guns and fighting styles again.
Breaks Instinct: No damageDashes at the enemy and sweeps them with your tails.

Strengths 6
- Still rated S tier after the August 2026 balance patch.
- Huge damage from the held Z and the transformed C.
- Almost every move hits an area, which makes grinding, bosses and raids fast in every sea.
- Very fast at 2+ tails, and transformed you can run on water and carry a teammate.
- Long-range M1s with a grab, stuns and burn damage.
- Transforming makes you briefly immune to basic damage, so it doubles as a combo breaker.
What players sayStill S tier after the August 2026 nerf and one of the best grinders in the game, but no longer a must-pick for PvP. Guides call it worth it if you already own Permanent Kitsune; for free-to-play players it is a poor deal.
Weaknesses 6
- Expensive: Permanent Kitsune plus 2,000 Robux, or a costly trade, since the event routes are gone.
- Its own mastery track, separate from
Kitsune, with unlocks up to 300. - Since August 2026, tap Z no longer breaks Instinct and X locks you into its animation, so PvP pressure is lower.
- Every move costs tail meter, and you need a full 3 tails to transform.
- Holding Z leaves you open to fast counters from
Tiger,
Dragon,
Lightning and Kitsune users. - Transformed, you cannot use swords, guns or fighting styles, and it struggles against sky campers.
How to use Empyrean well
- 01
Fight in human form. You keep your sword, gun and fighting style for combos; save the fox for grinding and chasing.
PvP - 02
Open with C. Untransformed it releases almost instantly, so it is the easiest way to start a combo.
Combo - 03
Go M1 M1 M1 F: grabbing with F right before the last hit keeps the target locked in.
Combo - 04
Caught in a combo? Tap V. The transform animation ignores basic damage for about a second.
Defense - 05
Build to 3 tails before you commit: 2 tails gives the speed, 3 tails adds burn to your M1 and F.
PvP - 06
Do not rely on a tapped Z to break Instinct any more, and do not try to cancel out of X on hit. Both changed in August 2026.
PvP - 07
Grinding mastery? Farm bosses such as Cake Queen and server hop, instead of normal mobs.
Grinding - 08
Held Z lands more easily on laggy players, because their hitbox trails behind them.

Where this comes from
Checked 2026-09-29 against 21 sources and written in our own words. Numbers follow the official update notes first, then the wiki, then players.
- When the nerf happened: The Fandom wiki files the four PvP nerfs under Update 29.6. The patch notes date them to Balance Patch 001 on August 6, 2026, which some sites call Update 32 or 32.5. We show the date.
- Galaxy vs Crimson: Most sources say the Winter 2025 Fruit Box gave the Galaxy skin and the Robux purchase gives Crimson; FandomWire says the reverse. We follow the majority.
- Mastery: One site says 600 mastery is needed to fully unlock it. The move unlocks stop at 300 (V); 600 is most likely the mastery cap.
- Still on sale: Guides list the 2,000 Robux mutation purchase, but none written after August 2026 confirms it is still available.

Is Empyrean worth it in Blox Fruits?

Which Empyrean skin is rarer, Crimson or Galaxy?
Galaxy. Crimson is the default look.
What mastery do you need for Empyrean's moves?
Z Sweeping Firestorm: 1, X Tails of Burning Agony: 50, C Burstfire Cannon: 100, V Transformation: 300, F Wild Assault: 200.
