What is Sand in Blox Fruits?
Sand is an Uncommon Elemental fruit that lets you control sand for traps and bursts of damage. It plays a lot like a ground-based version of
Dark: quicksand pits, a sand tornado and a heavy exploding orb, all built to stun and hold enemies in place.
Its downside is built right into the fruit: touching water deals you double damage unless you also have Shark V2 or higher, so Sand users have to be careful around the sea. Awakening it for 14,500 Fragments upgrades every move to work in the air, not just on the ground.
August 2026's Balance Patch 001 cut end lag and cast times across most of its moves, making it faster to use even if the raw damage stayed about the same.

How to get Sand
Other ways to get it
Sand is cheap enough that most players buy it new rather than trade for it.
Sand passives
As an Elemental fruit, most basic enemy hits pass through you instead of dealing damage.
You take twice as much damage in water, and Shark V1 does not remove this. You need Shark V2 or higher to avoid it.
Sand moves and mastery
Fires a linear burst of sand forward that launches hit enemies into the air.
Breaks Instinct: NoConjures a circle of quicksand that pulls in whoever steps on it, then crushes them in a sphere of sand.

Strengths 5
- Most moves break Instinct, unusual for an Uncommon fruit.
- Strong stuns and combo potential from Desert Funeral and Sand Coffin.
- August 2026's balance patch shortened end lag and cast times across several moves.
- Cheap and easy to get early on.
- Good grab and hold tools for setting up a combo.
What players sayGuides rank Sand at B tier as of August 2026. Its stuns and Instinct-breaking moves make it a solid cheap pick on land, though the water penalty and slow flight hold it back.
Weaknesses 5
- Takes double damage in water unless you also have Shark V2 or higher.
- Most ground moves do not work over open water or high in the air unless awakened.
- Sand Flight is the slowest flight move in the game.
- Heavy lack of mobility outside of flight.
- Still dodgeable with Instinct if the opponent reacts fast enough.
How to use Sand well
- 01
Open with X Desert Funeral or Sand Coffin since both break Instinct almost every time.
PvP - 02
Pull enemies in with C Sand Tornado, then finish with V Heavy Sand for big damage.
Combo - 03
Avoid using Sand near open water. Damage doubles there unless you also run Shark V2 or above.
- 04
Stick to land when grinding with Sand since several of its moves only work on solid ground.
