Key takeaways
- LF means looking for and FT means for trade. Traders write LF Shadow Dragon or FT Frost Dragon.
- NFR is a Neon Fly Ride pet, MFR a Mega Neon Fly Ride pet, and FR, F or R a normal pet with Fly, Ride or both.
- W, F and L mean win, fair and lose: whether you get more, the same or less value than you give.
- The game shows no values, so players compare pets with a value list and a trade calculator.
- Never trade outside the trade window or hand over your account. No real trade needs it.
The short answer
LF means “looking for”. When a player writes LF Shadow Dragon, they want a Shadow Dragon and are asking what you would offer for it. Its partner is FT, “for trade”: the pets they are happy to give away.
Adopt Me trade chat is full of short words like these. The table below covers every one you will see, and the sections after it show how to use them to judge a trade.
Every Adopt Me trading term
| Term | Means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| LF | Looking for | LF Bat Dragon |
| FT | For trade | FT Frost Dragon, Owl |
| N | Neon pet | N Kitsune |
| M or MN | Mega Neon pet | M Unicorn |
| F | Has a Fly potion | F Crow |
| R | Has a Ride potion | R Turtle |
| FR | Fly Ride: has both potions | FR Giraffe |
| NFR | Neon Fly Ride | NFR Parrot |
| MFR | Mega Neon Fly Ride | MFR Shadow Dragon |
| W | Win: you get more value | “W or L?” |
| F (after a trade) | Fair: both sides are about equal | “That’s an F” |
| L | Lose: you give more value | |
| WFL | “Is this a win, fair or lose?” | Asked under a screenshot |
| OP | Overpay: one side gives a lot more | “OP for Giraffe” |
| Adds | Extra pets added to even out a trade | “Need adds” |
| Downgrade | Trading one big pet for several smaller ones | |
| Upgrade | Trading several smaller pets for one bigger one |
The F in “F Crow” (Fly) and the F in “W, F or L” (fair) are different words that share a letter. You can tell them apart because Fly always sits in front of a pet’s name.
How to tell if a trade is fair
The game does not show values anywhere, so every Adopt Me trader works from a value list. Here is the quick way to check any trade:
- Look up every pet on both sides in the Adopt Me value list. Switch it to Neon or Mega Neon and add Fly and Ride to match the pets in the trade.
- Add up both sides in the Adopt Me trade calculator. It gives you a W, F or L straight away. We call a trade fair when both sides are within 10% of each other.
- Check the trade window before you accept. Make sure every pet is the one you agreed on, with the right Neon, Mega Neon, Fly and Ride.
Why a Neon is worth about four pets
A Neon is made from 4 Full Grown pets of the same kind, and a Mega Neon from 4 Neons, so 16 pets in total. That is why value lists count a Neon as roughly four of the normal pet and a Mega Neon as sixteen. In real trades the most popular Megas often go for even more. Our guide on how to make a Mega Neon walks through it step by step.
Fly and Ride add value too. A Fly potion costs 255 Robux and a Ride potion 130 Robux in the game, so an FR pet is worth more than the same pet without potions.
Trading license, trade stand and spectating
- Trading license. You need one to trade ultra-rare and legendary pets. Get it at the Safety Hub, between the Potion Shop and the Farm Shop: watch three trades and jump on green if the trade is safe or red if it is a scam. You can retry as often as you need.
- Trade stand. The Classic Trade Stand costs 95 Robux in the shop. Put it down to show what you are looking for, and other players can send you a trade from it wherever you are on the map.
- Spectating. Click either of two players who are trading and choose Spectate Trade to watch. It is a good way to see what pets really trade for before you make an offer.
Trading safely
A few more habits that keep your pets safe:
- Take your time. Scammers rush you. If someone keeps changing the trade at the last second, cancel and start again.
- Read the confirm screen. Adopt Me shows both sides one more time before the trade goes through. Check it.
- Be careful with “OP” offers. If a trade looks far too good, check that the pets really are Neon or Mega Neon, and not just a similar looking pet.
Common questions
Is a W/F/L calculator accurate? It is as good as the values behind it. Ours are built from each pet’s rarity, hatch odds and how long it has been gone, and every pet page shows why it scores what it does. For the rarest pets, also see what people offer in your own servers.
What is the most valuable pet in Adopt Me? By our score the top pets are old legendaries that can no longer be hatched or bought, led by the Shadow Dragon and Frost Dragon. The full ranking is in the value list.
